This project aims to address disease and mortality in lobster aquaculture by developing and applying tailored probiotics.
This project is expected to generate new knowledge on the function of probiotics as well as methodologies to upscale the implementation of probiotics into aquaculture productions. The expected outcomes of this project are improved survival and growth performances of lobsters during larval and outgrowth rearing as well as a probiotic formulation that can be implemented into large-scale production. This should provide significant benefits by providing effective, safe and environment-friendly solutions to safeguard seafood production and avoid or minimise the need for antibiotics and chemicals in aquaculture.
