Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to face significant health and wellbeing inequities rooted in the ongoing impacts of colonisation, compounded by racism and barriers to culturally safe care. UNSW Medicine & Health is working with communities on projects that deliver meaningful improvements in health outcomes. Through its research, the faculty is fostering the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers, strengthening Indigenous leadership, promoting cultural safety, and embedding this knowledge into healthcare systems to better meet First Nations needs.
