Dr Vinod Maseedupally is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Optometry & Vision Science (SOVS), UNSW.  He has about 20 years of experience in clinical teaching and research. His passion towards teaching made him an effective educator. As an educator, Dr Maseedupally drives innovation in optometry teaching at SOVS. He continually works towards better student engagement and enhance student learning experience at the school and the university.

Dr Maseedupally was awarded a PhD from UNSW in 2013 for his work in orthokeratology. He coordinates postgraduate Contact Lens courses and also teaches clinical optometry within the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He received his basic optometry qualifications from L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) and Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry, Hyderabad, India. He worked as an optometrist at LVPEI. He also extended his services as an educator and research optometrist at the Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry and Prof. Brien Holden Clinical Research Centres of LVPEI. 

Besides being a busy educator, Dr Maseedupally undertakes research in the field of contact lenses, anterior eye topography and corneal reshaping. His teaching interests led him to undertake research projects in student experience, assessment, and feedback.

    Research Goals

    Vinod's research interests include assessment of corneal shape, contact lenses, orthokeratology and visual optics. In particular, his research focusses on understanding corneal shape in centre and towards periphery. Other interests include understanding induced corneal shape changes (like in orthokeratology) and its effects on myopia control and astigmatism.
