UNSW engages with all levels of government to help shape the higher education sector and strengthen Australia’s long-term social and economic wellbeing. This work is coordinated by the Government Relations and Policy team in close partnership with the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President.

Through formal submissions and collaborative policy initiatives, UNSW draws on expertise from across the University to help address complex challenges and make practical, evidence-based recommendations for change. In line with its civic purpose, UNSW promotes scholarship, research, free inquiry, research-informed teaching and academic excellence to meet community needs, contribute to public discourse, and support current and future generations of Australian leaders.

Working with experts, sector partners and community stakeholders, UNSW advances national priorities in research and innovation, health and wellbeing, climate and sustainability, economic growth, educational and social equity, and Indigenous knowledges and leadership.
