New tool helps women better understand IVF elective egg freezing.

UNSW Centre for Big Data Research in Health’s Professor Georgina Chambers is leading the UNSW team behind a new online calculator 

Developed by UNSW Sydney's National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit (NPESU) and funded by the federal government, the YourIVFSuccess website’s ‘Your EggFreezeEstimator, ’ uses real-world Australian data to help women understand what egg freezing can and cannot achieve.

Congratulations Dr Erandi Hewawasam

CBDRH’s Dr Erandi Hewawasam has been awarded the James McWha Rising Star Award, one of the University of Adelaide’s Distinguished Alumni Awards, recognising her outstanding contribution to health research and to the University.

The James McWha Rising Star Award honours the highest accomplishments and achievements of young alumni making a significant contribution as emerging leader within their profession and/or community. In particular it recognises Dr Hewawasam’s leadership in maternal and renal health research, her significant roles in establishing and managing national linked health datasets, and her strong advocacy for inclusive, evidence-based care.


Congratulations Dr Wentao Li

Dr Wentao Li from CBDRH at UNSW Medicine & Health has received $978,059 to investigate the causes and develop better models to predict pregnancy loss for those undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART). The best-known ART treatments are in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and artificial insemination. Pregnancy loss occurs in around 20% of ART pregnancies.
