Emma has established meaningful professional collaborations, connections, and career pathways for students through her leadership of the WIL program and industry focussed courses.
As an Education Focussed Academic Emma’s research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) has had impact at a national and international level, presenting at education conferences across Australia and globally including the Netherlands, Japan, USA, Singapore and Italy. This broad contribution to SoTL has resulted in several published works, and her role as co-chair of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) Arts & Humanities Special Interest Group, and a role on the Teaching and Learning Inquiry (TLI) Journal Editorial team, as a Special Projects Associate.
Emma's Masters of Education thesis titled: Finding Agency: Enabling UNSW Education Focussed Academics in Sustainable Development Curriculum Making led to a university wide research project that resulted in the establishment of the Education for Sustainable Development EF Community of Practice (ESD CoP) of which she co-leads. This vibrant global community of over 200 academics fosters an ecology of teaching and learning, and empowers educators to equip students with the critical skills and agency needed to address the complex sustainability challenges of our time. Emma is a member of the Faculty of Arts Design & Architecture (Sustainable Development Goals) SDG Working Group, and the UNSW SDG Steering Committee.
