ICFHS researcher Dr Braulio Valencia Arroyo is a Chief Investigator on a major Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF)–funded project aimed at characterising clinical predictors of Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC), commonly referred to as long COVID. While centred on PASC, the project leverages multiple cohorts investigating post-infectious fatigue syndromes (PIFS), which share key clinical features with long COVID, including prolonged fatigue following acute infections. By integrating data across these cohorts, the study aims to generate evidence to support health-system approaches to the diagnosis and management of PIFS, a substantial and growing burden in primary care. The project is led by The Kirby Institute and has secured $750,000 in MRFF funding.
