Business case competition 2024

Represent UNSW at business case competitions

Case competitions involve teams of 3-4 students tackling business problems for real-world organisations. Competitions require teams to:

  • Analyse real-world business challenges.
  • Strategise and ideate within teams.
  • Craft innovative solutions within a limited timeframe.
  • Pitch ideas to a panel of industry judges.

Teams create strategies for various business challenges, such as customer acquisition, market entry, or profit growth. While cases and competitions differ globally, students apply industry practices and technical skills to solve these problems.

Winning strategies require attention to detail, creativity, and strong business acumen. Teams collaborate to deliver recommendations to a panel of judges, often from the company featured in the case.

Getting involved and competing against the world’s best students in business case competitions offers invaluable experience and gives you an edge to impress future employers.

Benefits of participating in case competitions

  • Sharpen your ability to solve complex problems.
  • Learn to work effectively in a team.
  • Improve your public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Learn to thrive in high-pressure situations.
  • Cultivate in-demand professional skills.
  • Connect with peers who strive to be tomorrow’s business leaders.
  • Network with industry professionals from around the world.
Representing UNSW at Copenhagen Business School’s Invitational Competition was an unforgettable highlight of my university journey. Competing with teams from around the world, I forged friendships and fond memories exploring the beautiful city of Copenhagen. The week, filled with socials, case challenges, and elegant dinners, truly made the experience one to remember.

What students say

2024

Doris Yang

John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition was a rewarding and challenging experience! Alongside travelling in Montreal, we presented four cases across industries such as education, wealth management, and fintech. This taught me how to apply my marketing background towards Quebec’s cultural and economic context.

2024

Manas Gupta

The combination of a shorter startup case and a longer listed company case provided for real world insights and a diverse approach to problem solving, making the Oceania Case Competition an enriching experience!

2023

Matilda Rice

Participating in the UTS Global Case Competition was an unforgettable experience that took us beyond textbooks and lectures. We tackled real-world business challenges that tested our teamwork and creativity. The bonds formed and the insights gained have stayed with us long after the competition.
