Mini-COGE
Enhance your differentiation skills and ability to cater to gifted learners
GERRIC’s Mini-COGE courses provide practical professional development for educators working with high-potential and gifted students. High-potential learners are not always high achievers; our focus is on equipping teachers with the knowledge and strategies needed to engage, challenge, and support these students to reach their full potential.
The Mini-COGE will help you to:
- identify gifted, high-potential, and talented students;
- differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of high-potential learners;
- implement effective ability grouping or acceleration practices;
- understand current research and best practice in gifted education; and
- design or refine a unit of work tailored to the needs of a differentiated classroom.
Throughout the course, you will apply your learning to develop practical changes to curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy.

- Myths, stereotypes, and misconceptions
- Gagné’s model of giftedness and talent
- Intellectual and behavioural characteristics of gifted students
- Identifying gifted and high-potential learners
- Understanding and addressing underachievement
- Ability grouping and acceleration
- Evidence-based gifted education research
- Differentiated curriculum models
- Assessment tools and approaches
- Practical instructional strategies
- Lesson planning and classroom application

2026 session dates
Registrations for Mini-COGE sessions in the first half of 2026 are now open through our event management platform, Swoogo.
Swoogo allows you to complete individual or group bookings and select your preferred payment method, including credit card or invoicing. You may also register a group in advance and provide attendee details closer to the session date.
All Mini-COGE sessions run from 8:30am to 5:30pm (AEST/AEDT) across two days unless otherwise noted.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with details about the course location and logistics. Additional information will be provided as the session date approaches.
